Project: Santa Ynez Valley Traffic Circulation and Safety Study (2019 – 2020)

Adapting a project from traditional outreach to virtual engagement.

KPA worked with the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG), in partnership with the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians, on community engagement for the Santa Ynez Valley Traffic Circulation and Safety Study to improve the quality of life for pedestrians, cyclists, residents, businesses and motorists. Following community engagement through a bus tour and in-person public meetings, the final community meeting was held as a “virtual meeting” due to the coronavirus pandemic, drawing over 110 live participants and more than 450 additional views and 50 comments, with many comments expressing support for the recommended project improvements.

Deliverables:

• Outreach to key stakeholders and organizations via phone and follow-up emails

• Assisted with designing and conducting a Santa Ynez Valley Bus Tour

• Developed a Tour Book to inform project analysis and development

• Community meeting design and co-facilitation

• Virtual community meeting planning, logistics, and production

• Press releases and social media messages

• Graphic Design: branding, meeting invitations
