Creating Safer Routes for Seniors

KPA is proud to be part of the team working on the LA Department of Transportation’s Safe Routes for Seniors project, under the direction of Toole Design Group. The project goal is to eliminate crashes that disproportionately lead to deaths and severe injuries among older adults. As a team that values walking, biking and exploring our communities on foot, it fuels us to have even a small part making communities safer and more accessible.

KPA is leading intercept surveys in support of the project. We live by Theodore Roosevelt’s quote, “People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care.” We bring that care to hearing directly from the community about their concerns, frustrations, hopes and desires. We recognize the responsibility in capturing these comments and sharing them with our project team members.

To date, we’ve spent time in the Los Angeles communities of Chinatown, South LA and Rancho Park. Two more LA communities to come, and we can’t wait!

A Planning Lab for the South LA neighborhood.

The KPA Team hit the streets to administer the Safe Routes for Seniors intercept surveys in Chinatown.
